Community in Education

We were given a task to create a video that explained the role of community in education. These were our thoughts:

What is the role of community?

• To bridge the gap between the school and the real world

• community expands the classroom (removing the walls of the classroom)
• Real world resources of people, places or as a contributor
• Leveraging the power of personal learning networks as co-teachers

We imagined a video where the letters CO would appear along with key words such as these:

-collaborate

-communication

-create

We also imagined the definitions of the word community in multiple languages flashing across the screen to reinforce the idea of the global network.

Noun A group of people living together in one place, esp. one practicing common ownership: "a community of nuns". All the people living in a particular area or place: "local communities".

Synonyms society - commune - public

Another idea was to show the layers and steps of communities of influence in our video - starting from the student as nucleus and stepping out through the following ideas until we get global.
